Marshal stops the Netflix Queue long enough to talk about season 1 of Legion on FX, which tells the offbeat tale of Professor Xavier's illegitimate and powerful mutant son.

  1. Sorry for (trying to) ruining your episode, Marshal.

So, what is the actual reason they don't say the name of who his father was? They can say "mutants" on this show, but can they say "X-men" or "Shadow King" or "Xavier School" or "Bolivar Trask" or "The White Queen of the Hellfire Club?" Even though it's a show made by Fox, are they legally not allowed to touch certain aspects of the property?

  2. That's a good question. I'm not sure if they are trying to separate the TV show from the movies. Marvel takes a lot of flack for making Agents of SHIELD in the same universe as the MCU. I wonder if Fox was trying to avoid that by making it ambiguous with Charles Xavier. The show did refer directly to the Shadow King. They even used his real name, Amahl Farouk, from the comics. The Hellfire Club is not mentaioned in this series, but it did play into "The Gifted" television series. I guess I'll have to do an episode on that, too.
